Mohammad Khalvandi of Iran has made a wonderful throw at the London Paralympics to garner the country’s tenth gold in the tourney.


The 22-year-old Iranian athlete stood in the first place in the Men's Javelin Throw - F57/58 with a 50.98-meter throw at Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

Batista Dos Santos of Brazil took the silver medal with a 45.38-meter throw and Salem Raed Salem of Egypt got the bronze with 47.90.

Earlier in the day, Iran won a silver medal in the Men’s Sitting Volleyball after it lost the final to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 

Iran Paralympics squad currently stands in the 11th place with 23 medals -- 10 golds, seven silvers, and six bronze medals.


The London Paralympics opened on August 29 and runs until September 9. The Paralympic Games is the world's second largest major international multi-sport event, involving athletes with a range of physical challenges.

Iran has sent 79 athletes, competing in 13 events, to the London Paralympics.
