Production of hybrid Rana confirmed

According to Khabar Khodro, parts of hybrid Rana are designed and developed in Iran Khodro Engine Research Center and is being assembled.

The plan of hybrid Rana, which is done as ‘National Plan of Hybrid Car’ and by support of Presidential Department of Development and Technology in Iran Khodro Engine Research Center, could be a suitable solution for air pollution in big cities although its accomplishment is due to offer car buying subsidy.

Full hybrid powerplant include plug-in and non-plug-in that prior has the capacity to move a high distance in full electric mode while combustion engine is turned off as battery is charged before by a power socket.

Field tests of this car, which is for city use and reaching zero emission, would be done next summer in Tehran.

Hybrid Rana is plug-in and its battery could be charged with electrical outlets in especial charge stations that exist all around the world and should be built in Iran, too. These kinds of hybrid vehicles have gone into mass production by some big automakers like GM.

This vehicle also has a combustion engine, but the electric engine is connected to its wheels and the action of combustion engine is just to charge battery while a charge station is not available.

The combustion engine in this car is a little mill, which exists in three and four cylinder forms. As even the smallest engine of Iran Khodro-TU3- is big for this issue then another engine is considered for hybrid Rana and it would be built in Iran.

In this vehicle, the combustion engine is rarely turned on in city and hybrid Rana could pass 70 to 80 kilometers just by electric power, which has a significant role in decreasing air pollution of city.

Its maximum speed is 120 km/h, which is limited to this amount in order to prevent loss of power in high speeds and has made it a suitable city car. Therefore, being a city taxi is first priority for hybrid Rana.

In every charge, its emission while passing 70 to 80 kilometers is zero. Therefore, if taxi fleet is replaced with this car, with a single recharge in midday each taxi can pass 150 to 160 kilometers without fossil fuel.
