According to Khabar Khodro,Peugeot has released pictures of its new 408 sedan ahead of its official unveiling at the Beijing Auto Show.
The new model replaces the original 408 that debuted at the same motor show in 2010, and China will again be a focus for the new model, along with Russia and South American markets.
Styling draws on Peugeot’s 308 hatch upon which the 408 is based, and features the new ‘face’ for the French carmaker.
The Peugeot badge has moved from the bonnet on the 308 to the grille on the 408, and the new model gets LED daytime running lights.
Power will come from a choice of at least two petrol engines, available in either 1.6 litre turbocharged or 1.8 litre natural-aspirated form, producing 125kW and 104kW respectively.
Reports suggest the wheelbase for the 408 has been stretched over the 308.
The 308 recently won the European Car of the Year Award, but couldn’t replicate last year’s winner – the Volkswagen Golf – by going on to win the World Car of the Year Award as well.
