Consolidation of cars’ prices in case of paying losses to automakers

According to Khabar Khodro, secretary of Iranian Automakers’ Association said, “According to information that automakers sent to Council on Competitiveness, it is expected that prices would be increased as otherwise the losses of manufacturers would be continued.”

Ahmad Nemat Bakhsh in an interview with Khabar Khodro’s reporter added, “It is expected that Council on Competitiveness apply the partial inflation of last year according to previous formula and instruction and confirm prices as soon as possible in order to help automakers get out of losses.”

He told, “Automakers have sent the list of cars’ prices to the Council on Competitiveness so it is expected that the council to calculated the prices according to pricing guidelines and announce the percentage of price increase.”

He admitted, “If this process is fair then we would see about 10 to 15 percent price increases.”

He remarked, “We hope that council hold its meeting so quickly and make decision for cars’ prices in order to help automakers.”

He mentioned to the government’s issue about not increasing cars’ prices and told, “Automakers are following government and they are ready no to confirm price increases but only if the government accept to pay their losses.”

Secretary of Iranian Automakers’ Association reiterated, “If we compare vehicles with consumer goods or even durable and non-durable goods, again the rate of price increases of cars in recent 10 years is low while the price of most of these products have been increased a lot.”

Nemat Bakhsh added, “Unfortunately, now continuity of applying the policy of cars’ prices consolidation has make beds for corruption in auto market. So, cars’ prices should be freed as soon as possible in order to solve problems in market and for automakers.”

He admitted, “Cars’ prices would be decreased with reducing false claims and taking out causeless money from market.”
