Ford to make India facility an export hub

According to Khabar Khodro, Ford has decided to make its facilities in India an export hub and will send cars from here to over 50 countries. This was said by Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford during a visit to the American automaker's plant outside Chennai.

He said that the quality of products and the way entire plant worked has made it a great location to become an export hub. The automaker already exports the Figo, EcoSport and the Classic sedan to various markets in Africa and the Middle East and it looks like the number of destinations for export will increase once the plant in Gujarat goes operational.

India is a destination known for cost effective manufacturing for a plethora of reasons and it only seemed a matter of time before Ford began export operations from Chennai. We expect that once the Gujarat plant goes operational, it will also export individual parts
