According to Khabar Khodro, the secretary of HealthcareCommission in Parliament talked about the support of Parliament from environmental plans of Tehran municipal and said, “After passing 3 years from 5 years plan of country development about 90 percent of legal approvals about environment have been accomplished. But after breaking up the Supreme Council forthe Environment in 85, about 75 percent of these rules are not applied. Therefore, air pollution has not only decreased but also increased.”
In an interview with Khabar Khodro’s reporter about Euro 4 fuel, Rasooul Khezri told, “From the end of 4th plan of development and the beginning of 5 years plan it was decided that the standard of vehicles and their fuel to be based on the Euro 4 rules as not improving the standard vehicles and their fuelsimultaneously would result in more air pollutions.”
He added, “Last year, those in chargeof airpollution and environment such as automakers, PetroleumRefineryCompany,National Institute of Standards,EnvironmentInstitute and Supreme Audit Court have been invited to answer about delays in improving omission standards of vehicles and their fuel but they have asked a second chance.”
About supporting the production of electric motorcycles and vehicles he admitted, “Dr. Hafezi, chairman of theHealthCommission ofthe City Council ofTehran is serious on these vehicles and follows the issue.”
About imported fuel he reiterated, “Unfortunately, the fuel that has been imported as Euro 4 was nothing but Euro 2 compatible so Environment Institute and National Institute of Standards should be responsible for that. If we are going forward following resistive economy, now Arak petrochemical operations are producing Euro 4 fuel and while refineries andpetrochemical industries are going to be standardized, we would have more success.”
About rail way transportation Khezri said, “Recently the government has approved a plan based on which government and municipal should invest 50:50 for improving public transportation. A serious action is needed there in order to invite people for using public transportation.”
Finally, he told, “Rail way transportation, clean energyandelectricvehicles are among activities that can help improvement of Tehran air.”
