Old cars are one of the basic reasons for air pollution

According to Khabar Khodro, the CEO of Saipa explained that the role of old and carburetor cars is so big in air pollution of cities.

Engineer Madani mentioned to the role of old and carburetor cars in cities and said, "There are about 500000 units of carburetor cars in country, which have big role in air pollution of cities. In other words, the pollution of all these carburetor cars are equal to other newly manufactured cars."

He added, "According to the studies of Automakers' Association, if we use 10 percent of costs paying for transferring Euro 2 engines to Euro 4 compatible ones for collecting old and carburetor cars we would be able to reduce pollution with lower costs."

The CEO of Saipa said that another way for reducing air pollution is collecting motorcycles and admitted, "If government makes force for collecting motorcycles and old cars as it does for transferring to Euro 4 engines the air pollution would be improved soon."

He menrioned to the development of electrical vehicles in Saipa and remarked, "Saipa is the first company that has started the research about EVs in Iran as these products are better for environment and would be used more in future."

He told, "Some of the investments of automakers in different segments such as environment is so important but unfortunately price suppressions in recent years have prevented the issue. On the other hand, such investments are so costly so government should support automakers by not decreasing the prices of costs and more helps."

Finally, he said, "In recent years many automakers have tried to filter outlet air from cars and make clean air and I hope that we see one day that vehicles are air filters in streets and we produce vehicles without any concern."
