Soren launches in market with diesel engine

According to Khabar Khodro, the CEO of Iran Khodro Industrial Group has announced production of Soren with national diesel engine in second half of next year.

Engineer Hashem Yeke Zare' said, "In following orders of Supreme Leader, first result of resistive economy reaches market with design and development of Soren with national diesel engine of Iran Khodro."

He added, "Soren is the first vehicle sporting diesel engine and after that comes Dena. Until now 4 vehicles are equipped with diesel engine and 10 others would sport the same engine in near future."

He told, "With achieving diesel technology, Iran Khodro is ready to produce diesel passenger vehicles if its standard fuel is supplied for public transportation fleet."

He admitted, "The national diesel engine produces 120 hp and its fuel consumption is 2.5 L/100 km. its fuel economy and more power makes it a cost effective choice for costumers."

He announced that the capacity of this engine is 1.5 L and it is euro 5 compatible and remarked, "Most parts of the engine are locally made but foreign companies have tested its parts."

Yeke Zare' reiterated, "On average, more than 25 percent of powertrains of vehicles in world are diesel ones and in European countries this share is reached to 55 percent. According to expectations, average amount of this share in world would reach more than 35 percent by 2020."

He added, "This diesel engine (EFD) is based on entry level gas powered EF7 engine in order to reduce development and investment in production lines and its is also tried to use existing production lines and some parts of EF7 engine for it. Technically, this engine could be used for C and D class vehicles."

He admitted, "With launch of this diesel engine for passenger vehicles Iran Khodro plays the first role of local diesel vehicles' market."
