According to Khabar Khodro, if there ever was a title of ultra luxury production cars to be won, few would disagree that Rolls-Royce (RR) would bag it. However, the Maybach luxury limousine has been staring in the eye of the British luxury carmaker’s flagship car – the Phantom for a while now. With the arrival of the new Maybach how do they plan to counter the competition? Simple. They don’t consider it competition at all.
“The Maybach is not a direct competitor to Rolls-Royce,” Gerry Spahn, head of communications for Rolls-Royce, North America, told a publication.
Spahn says, “Rolls-Royce customers are unique and they buy one because they want exclusivity.”
“The bespoke options on a Rolls-Royce vehicle is absolutely exclusive and that is way beyond the competition,” Spahn added.
“Our competition is not necessarily vehicles; I can say airplanes, yachts, art, that’s where we are competing with.”
