Jaguar EV Reportedly in the Works

According to Khabar Khodro, Jaguar is said to be preparing an all-electric vehicle that could make it to showrooms by 2018.

The all-electric powertrain from Jag will be fitted to the new F-Pace crossover, allowing it to travel roughly 300 miles on a single charge. This new electric crossover, if its built, will take the fight to the upcoming Tesla Model X.

Jaguar already has some experience with electric transmissions thanks to the C-X75 supercar project, so developing an EV powertrain won’t be entirely new for the brand. An all-electric car is also going to be a requirement soon thanks to the new Zero Emission Vehicle legislation introduced in California and adopted by seven other states.

This new EV powertrain is also supposedly going to end up in a Land Rover SUV sometime as well, helping to move more units to supplement the cost of development.
