Rana hatch back, in Iran Khodro’s portfolio

According to Khabar Khodro, many Korean and Chinese competitors in hatch back segment and market’s requirement to new products has made the pressure to produce Rana hatch back based on Rana platform.

Seyed Ahmad Modir Ghomi, engineer manager of Iran Khodro said about the issue, “Rana is a B and C segment car which is in the ownership of Iran Khodro. Regarding to its technical specifications, it could be a base for producing new cars in this segment.”

Modir Ghomi about Rana hatch back said, “Rana hatch back is a new cabin on the Rana platform which is similar to Rana from the front end and its back with retaining styles is designed for hatch back models. Feedbacks toward hatch backs in the market has made Iran Khodro’s engineers to design a new product with sport hatch backs’ identity such as new bumper, spoiler and sport alloy wheels.”

Head of Rana project about powertrain on the Rana hatch back said, “Now Rana has a 1600 cc engine and by being independent in developing it we could also use it at Rana hatch back.”

He added, “on the other hand, the use of national engines or EF series in Rana is under consideration and until it is not confirmed we will use the same 1600 cc in Rana hatch back.”

Modir Ghomi admitted the launch of two Rana models, the hatch and luxury, to the market by the first half of next year and added, “The progress of designing and producing these two projects is going on simultaneously.” He with notifying sanctions and international limitations said, “By the first half of next year two new variants of Rana will be launched to market.”

Engineer manager of Iran Khodro announced the good feedback of exporting markets to Rana and told, “Rana will be exported to CIS countries such as Russia, Belarus and Ukraine and also middle east countries such as Iraq and Tunisia.”

He admitted, “Now we have orders for Rana from exporting regions and this shows the continuity of Iran Khodro’s presence in global markets in favor of Rana.”

Vice president of production in Iran Khodro, Hossein Najari also said according to plans, next year 30 percent of Rana productions will be hatch and the other 70 percent will be sedan. If it faces good reactions, the combination won’t be changed.
