FIFA announced on Tuesday that Morocco, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates are the other countries who seek to host the event, the Associated Press reported.
According to FIFA regulations, the countries must submit their official bid documents by September 30 and FIFA's executive committee will then choose the host in October.
Sepahan is the only Iranian club which has played in the games so far. The Iranian team played two matches in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup, when it defeated the New Zealander club, Waitakere United, 3-1 in the play-off, and was downed against the Japanese side, Urawa Red Diamonds, with the same result in the quarterfinals.
The UAE has hosted the past two editions of the event in Abu Dhabi, and Japan is scheduled to host the competitions in 2011 and 2012.
The FIFA Club World Cup competition brings together the champion clubs of all six continental confederations of FIFA plus the host country's champion.
