“The cabinet has agreed with the issuance of more than 2.2 billion dollars in bonds for financing the country's power plant projects,” Namjou told IRNA on Sunday.

The Iranian minister further explained that the bonds will be issued “in the near future.”

Last year, Namjou stated that Iran had attracted more than 1.1 billion dollars in investment to build three new power plants in the country.

According to the minister, Iran has the capability to turn into a regional exporter of electricity.

Iran's electricity network has integrated into the power grids of seven neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan
