According to KHABARKHODRO, Premium carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has announced plans to hire more than 1,000 workers at its plant in Solihull, United Kingdom, according to the Financial Times. The Tata Motors-owned company says demand for its luxury SUVs and plans to diversify the range are the reasons for which it is recruiting more staff.

JLR plans to launch 40 new models, variants and products over the next five years, financed by a £1.5 billion a year investment from its Indian owner. As a consequence, the Solihull plant’s workforce will increase by more than 25 percent.

The facility currently builds four models: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery and Defender. JLR wants to expand the plant as demand for its SUVs is on the rise. In China, JLR’s third-largest market, company sales have gone up by 60 percent in the first nine months this year. Sharp increases have been reported in Russia, India and Brazil as well.

The new staff at Solihull will join as agency workers for a year, then move to temporary status for another year before becoming permanent. Jaguar Land Rover launched the recruitment campaign on Thursday with national print and radio advertisements for production operators and skilled tradespeople. JLR expects to receive „many thousands of applications” for the jobs.
