Inauguration of the Pilot Production the Cylinder and Cylinder Heads of Fuel-Efficient Engines

According to KhabarKhodro, Mr. Najmeddin, Iran Khordo Company CEO, visited the process of the domestic production of the cylinder and cylinder head of modern fuel-efficient engines. 

He mentioned the importance of powertrains in Iran Khodro strategic plans and said: The share of fuel-efficient engines will have reached to 90% in Iran Khodro products portfolio till the year 1395 (2016-2017).

Announcing the pilot production of the cylinder and cylinder heads of T.U.5 engines, which is done to reduce the risk of main parts supply, in modern flexible lines, he said: Iran Khodro is now capable of manufacturing the E.F.7 national engine using new resources.

He added: In order to use the maximum capacity of national powertrains, the current year production of E.F.7 is about 170,000 units.

He pointed to the need of market to high tech powertrains and the low fuel consumption in the class of 1.4 liter or lower capacity engines with the power of 60 to 80 hp as an important factor for designing and developing the national 1400 cc engine by Iran Khodro, which is at the final stages of development and will have been installed on Rana from the year 1392 (2013-2014).

In order to response to the demands of domestic and exporting markets and considering the environmental issues, Iran Khodro has chosen a strategy based on the fuel portfolio to help the products have a decreasing trend in terms of fuel consumption since the years 1391 to 1395’, said Najmeddin mentioning Iran Khodro strategy on passenger cars section.

Iran Khodro CEO added: The increase in the economic circulation and self-efficiency and the reduction of currency consumption, has led Iran Khodro to maintain and promote the strategic engines of T.U. and E.F.W family instead of manufacturing old high-consumption ones.

Mentioning the old technology of X.U.7 petrol engines, which are being installed on Peugeot 405, Peugeot Pars and Samand, he announced a 70% change in the principal parts and engine compartments, including cylinder head and its manifold, which has led the company to design and produce a new engine called X.U.M. He added: This engine can reduce the consumption of fuel and is compatible with Euro 4 emission standards.

He announced the mass production of X.U.M in next two months and its substitution instead of X.U.7, which had annual production of 300,000 units.

It must be noted that the CEO of Iran Khodro visited the production salons of the company powertrain including the number one, two and three engine manufacturing lines and had a close attention to the process of localizing the production of this section.
