2015 McLaren P13 Spied Testing

According Khabar Khodro , Britain's McLaren is inching closer to covering all bases in the supercar market. Its mid-range 12C has proven popular, and the new P1 'hypercar' has also wowed fans.

What's next? A new offering, the carmaker has confirmed, and these new photos offer the first look at the upcoming model.

Don't expect to see any revealing details, of course. What we can see here is a test mule based on the existing 12C.

Known for now as the P13, the new model will be aimed at the more... affordable... end of the supersports market, taking on Porsche's hero 911 Turbo.

Little is known about the new model, although reports suggest the 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 driving the 12C will also feature in the new model.

So as to not step on the 460kW 12C's toes, the engine would be de-tuned to produce closer to 370kW.

As for styling, the look of the P1 could inform the design of the new model, although McLaren will likely be mindful of not diminishing the appeal of the decidely less outlandish 12C.

McLaren is reportedly eyeing around 2500 sales each year for the P13, with a European price in the realm of €154,000.
