2016 Nissan Murano Hybrid Quietly Launched

According to Khabar Khodro, Nissanhas introduced the 2016 Murano Hybrid into its U.S. lineup, but only about 600 models will be sold here.

Fuel economy estimates posted by the EPA first revealed that the Murano Hybrid was destined for the U.S., and now we know that only 600 units are coming to our shores. Opting for the hybrid version will net drivers a 4 to 5 mpg benefit while costing them $3000 more. Only well-equipped SL and Platinum models will offer the hybrid drivetrain, and they are priced at $40,950 and $43,000 respectively.

The Murano Hybrid is powered by a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT and an electric motor, bringing combined system output up to 250 horsepower. Fuel economy ratings for the front-wheel drive hybrid model are pegged at 28 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway, while all-wheel drive units are rated to return 26 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.

Adding the hybrid setup adds some weight as well.

From the outside, the Murano Hybrid is really only identifiable by small badges, though inside there are a few revisions, namely an energy gauge and an eco-driving model.
