Decreasing tariff of importing cars is against policies of resistive economy

According to Khabar Khodro, spokesman of industries and mines commission in parliament said, "Sudden reduction of importing cars tariff would hurt the auto industry of country."

Rouh-Allah Abaspour in an interview with Khabar Khodro's reporter told, "Considering the effects of sanctions, increasing exchange rate, preciosity of ingredients and lack of liquidity and not offering facilities in auto making part, certainly 10 to 15 percent reduction of importing cars tariff would make problems and challenges for auto industry in Iran."

He added, "During tariff reduction in parliament in recent years, supreme leader told that we should make bed for retaining jobs in country and support local production with not reducing tariffs."

He remarked, "With nonstop reduction in tariff of importing cars local production would not be supported. In addition, self reliance and relying on local power and policies of resistive economy would not be accomplished."

He admitted, "Certainly, in this condition 10 to 15 percent reduction of importing cars tariff would not be according to resistive economy."

About support of government from local production he told, "Government from local production and locally made vehicles is one of the roots of resistive economy."

Abaspour added, " Decreasing tariff of importing cars should be determined annually and gradually in order to retain existing jobs and support auto industry."

He said, "Increasing importing cars is against emblems and approaches that are offered for supporting local production."

Finally, he remarked, "Automakers' focus on improving quality and developing new platforms would make the auto industry in Iran competitive."
