Maruti Suzuki to delay launch of new Swift with 1.3L 90 bhp petrol engine

Due to workers strike at their Manesar unit in Haryana, Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker has suffered not only loss in revenue but also a production loss of approximately 14,000 units.

According to KHABAR KHODRO, Maruti Suzuki had announced earlier that they will be launching their new Swift hatchback in India by August this year.

This does not seem to be happening now, as Maruti Suzuki will be planning on completing the pending orders first. Already the unit in Manesar is working at 108% capacity, so the option of working extra and make the launch of new Swift happen on time is also not possible.

According to ICB, the launch date of the new Swift will surely be delayed. The new Swift, once launched, will replace the existing Swift model which is available in India since the last 5 years. New Swift will be powered by a more powerful and economical 1.3L petrol engine with VVT-I technology. It will also offer a diesel variant powered by the same 1.3L diesel multijet engine.
