Sales of foreign cars in Moscow increased by half

At the end of five months of 2011 in Moscow was sold 248.3 thousand cars, which one and a half times more than the same period last year. To such conclusions Intelligence Agency “Autostat.” At the same time the capital has retained the title of the largest automotive market in Russia among the subjects of the federation.

According to KHABAR KHODRO, Results from January to May 2011 inclusive, were sold in Russia 696 000 cars of foreign brands, which is 70.3 per cent higher than last year. Directly in May, Russians bought 171,000 foreign cars – by 66.4 percent over the same month in 2010.

The most significant increase in sales of foreign cars on the first five months was recorded in the Kemerovo region – plus 114.2 percent. In addition, the number of growing markets in the number of sold cars of foreign brands have entered the Novosibirsk region (114.1 percent), Perm (113.8 percent), Krasnoyarsk Territory (108.3 per cent), Udmurtia (105.5 percent), Chelyabinsk region (106.4 percent) and Volgograd (102.4 percent).

As previously reported, for the first five months of 2011 Russia had sold 989 000 vehicles. At the same time the most popular foreign brand was Chevrolet (63 000 434 vehicles sold).
