BMW June sales up 16%

BMW global sales rose 16% year on year in June to 165,855 vehicles, fueled by rising demand in both emerging and mature markets.

According to KHABAR KHODRO, "We have just achieved another record month in sales and the best six months in our company's history," BMW sales chief Ian Robertson said in a statement cited by Dow Jones Newswires.

In the first six months, the world's largest premium automaker by sales volume sold 833,366 cars, up 20% compared with the same period last year.

"Due to the model cycle and the year-on-year base effect we do anticipate a somewhat slower rate of growth in the second half of the year," Robertson said, reiterating previous comments.

BMW said it achieved double-digit sales growth in Europe, the Americas and Asia in the first half of the year.

Sales in Europe rose to 437,373 vehicles, up 12.3% year-on-year, and increased by 19% to 178,903 cars in the Americas. In Asia, BMW posted a 47% sales increase to 189,254 vehicles in the January-to-June period.

BMW brand June sales were up 12% to 134,432 cars and Mini volume surged 34% to 31,111.

BMW brand first half sales were up 18% to 689,861 cars and Mini up 30% to 141,913.

Rolls-Royce H1 volume rose 64% to 1,592 cars.
