Lamborghini sues Vegas business for trademark infringement

Iconic Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is suing a Las Vegas restaurant and showroom for using a variation of its famous bull logo.

According to KHABAR KHODRO, The branding of the Dal Toro Exotic Car Showroom, Dal Toro Merchandise Gallery and Dal Toro Il Ristorante Italiano does seem to have, at the least, a passing resemblance to that of the famous marque.

The similarity has not escaped the attention of Lamborghini’s lawyers who have filed a trademark infringement suit in Federal court against Dal Toro’s owners. Compounding matters for the Dal Toro owners is that they have also been selling branded merchandise carrying the same logo.

Brashly, defendants prominently display a large and striking Lamborghini bull-in-shield protected design mark at the entrance of defendants’ premises and a Lamborghini protected type mark within defendants’ exotic car showroom,” states the lawsuit, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Dal Toro also has been selling clothing and accessories carrying “studied imitations of the Lamborghini trademarks” that represent “a sophisticated and elaborate scheme to target Lamborghini,” the lawsuit says.

When approached by the Las Vegas Sun, manager of the business Lorenzo Barracco said that he was unaware of the suit and said that he thought it sounded frivolous. However, the lawyers representing Lamborghini, Akerman Senterfitt, has a reputation for taking on complex and serious legal challenges
