World’s largest car manufacturer, Toyota Motors has announced that they are planning on starting production of Etios sedan at their unit in Brazil.
According to KHABAR KHODRO, In India, Toyota Motors sells cars under the name TKM – Toyota Kirloskar Motors as they entered India with a partnership with Indian manufacturer, Kirloskar Motors.
In a statement, Toyota Motors stated, “In August 2010, Toyota decided to construct a vehicle plant in Sorocaba, Brazil. This plant is expected to produce the Etios small vehicle introduced in India with an annual production capacity of 70,000 units. The plant is expected to commence production in late 2012.”
In India, Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched Etios sedan in December 2010. It was their first product which was launched in Indian auto industry before anywhere else. 4,000 Toyota engineers have worked day and night for 5 years in order to develop Etios.
Even after starting Etios production in Brazil, Indian auto industry will remain their primary market, added TKM officials. In order to meet the growing demand, TKM’s 2nd unit worth Rs 32,00 crores in Bangalore is up and running.
