According to KHABARKHODRO, GM announced that an investment of about $215 million in order to outfit the Saginaw Metal Casting Operation for manufacturing of future engine block and head casting work, generating about 275 jobs
Diana Tremblay, GM’s global chief manufacturing officer, said: “We look forward to continuing our long and proud heritage of in-house casting for key components.We believe these operations really enhance our ability to provide more fuel-efficient engines to our customers around the globe.”
Opened in 1919, the plant has now 630 employees and is manufacturing a series of aluminum engine blocks and cylinder heads for some of the most successful GM products, like Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Malibu.
With brands like Chevrolet and Cadillac, as well as Baojun, Buick, GMC, Holden, Isuzu, Jiefang, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling, General Motors Co. and its partners produce vehicles in more than 30 countries around the world
