Skoda Rapid to be unveiled on November 16

According to KHABARKHODRO, The Czech based automaker Skoda has recently announced that its Indian made Rapid model will be officially unveiled on the 16th of November, 2011, after the vehicle has entered production at the Pune plant, in October. The official unveiling of the Skoda Rapid will finally answer the question whether this is actually the production version of the MissionL previewed earlier this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

 “India is the first market in which we will introduce the new Rapid. It highlights the significance of that country for our company. We want to step on the pedal all over the world in the coming years. In order to do so, we will clearly increase our activities outside of Europe. In this context, the Indian market plays a central role, because, besides China and Russia, it is among the markets with the greatest potential. The new Rapid is the right car at the right time for these growth markets. It is an important step to our growth path for the coming years”, said Winfried Vahland, the chairman of board within Skoda, when the Rapid entered production.

The Skoda Rapid will be positioned between the Fabia and the Octavia, just like the MissionL should have been placed, and it will be 4.39 meters long, 1.70 meters wide and 1.47 meters high. The Indian Rapid will be available with two engine options, both of them with the 1.6 liter displacement, developing about 103 horsepower, out of which one will be gasoline and the other diesel powered.
