According to KHABARKHODRO, The South Korean based automaker Hyundai is planning to introduce the Veloster, to the 2012 Detroit Motor Show, in a new turbo version, being a first step into selling the hatchback on the overseas auto market starting from later next year.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo going to 2012 Detroit Motor Show

According to KHABARKHODRO, The South Korean based automaker Hyundai is planning to introduce the Veloster, to the 2012 Detroit Motor Show, in a new turbo version, being a first step into selling the hatchback on the overseas auto market starting from later next year.

 

According to John Krafcik, the Hyundai CEO, the Turbo Veloster will be officially presented at the next year’s Detroit Motor Show and the vehicle is expected to hit the local dealerships later in 2012.

 

The Hyundai Veloster Turbo will be powered by the same 2.0 liter, four-cylinder turbo engine found on the Optima SX Turbo, which is developing a total output of 208 horsepower at 6.000 rpm and has a peak torque of 195 lb-ft available between 1.600 and 5.000 rpm, with the powerplant being ULEV-2 certified.

 

Sadly there’s no additional info on the future Veloster Turbo but as a reminder, the hatchback is currently powered by the 1.6 liter GDI Gamma direct injection gasoline engine which is developing 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque, doing an estimated 28/40/32 mpg in city / highway / combined when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission and 29/38/32 mpg with the DCT.

 

Prices for the new Hyundai Veloster start at 17.300 USD for the entry-level version.
