Recall roundup: 2011 Nissan rogue

According to Khabarkhodro, The Japanese based automaker Nissan has recently announced a recall which will affect its 2011 Rogue models because of a defect with the electric power assist system.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 7.365 units of the 2011 model year Nissan Rogue will be affected by the recall and its owners will have to take a trip back to the dealerships in order to fix a defect with the electric power assist system. The NHTSA says that because of this problem, an increase in the force needed to steer the vehicle may appear, increasing the risk of a crash, but the agency doesn’t say anything about reports received regarding accidents or injuries because of this defect.

The circuit board may not have been installed in the correct position on certain electric power steering assist control units. This may cause additional stress on the solder of the terminal to the circuit board, resulting in the solder cracking and separating completely from the circuit board. As the circuit board falls, the power steering assist feature will stop functioning, increasing the force needed to steer the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash”, said the NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem.

Owners of the 2011 Nissan Rogue, manufactured between August 17, 2012 and October 30, 2012, will have to make a trip back to the dealerships in order to get this problem fixed. Nissan says that dealers will replace the electric power steering control unit for free.
