2012 Hyundai Sonata hybrid price, starts at $26,610

According to Khabarkhodro, Hyundai Motors has just announce that the 2012 Hyundai Sonata hybrid will cost $26,610, including shipping charges. That’s a $55 bump from the 2011 model.

In addition, new for 2012 is the Leather Package - $1,500 MSRP, which offers leather-seating surfaces, heated front seats and rear seat bottom cushions, leather-wrapped steering wheel & shift knob and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink and compass.

Ultimate Package - $5,500 MSRP Includes the Leather package contents plus the following:

 • Panoramic sunroof with tilt & slide

 • 17-inch Eco-spoke alloy wheels with unique finish

 • Navigation system with high-resolution touch-screen display

 • Rear backup camera

 • Infinity premium speakers, subwoofer and external amplifier (400-watt)

 • HD Radio Technology with multicasting

 • SiriusXM, NavTraffic, NavWeather and Sports & Stocks w/ 90-Day Trial

The power plant remains Hyundai’s 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Power from the four-cylinder is rated at 166 hp, while the electric motor adds 40 hp for a total system output of 206 hp.

 Thanks to its unique design, the Sonata Hybrid is expected to achieve 37 mpg in the city and up to 40 mpg on the highway – the latter leading the mid-size hybrid segment.

 The Sonata Hybrid is also capable at traveling up to 62 mph on electric power – beating the previously class-leading Ford Fusion ’s 47 mph electric-only rating.
