According to Khabarkhodro,
Ford Motor Company invested $1.1 billion to expand its Claycomo Assembly Plant, from Kansas City, Missouri.
The expansion includes a 450,000-square-foot integrated stamping plant, additions and renovations to the existing paint shop, facility upgrades, new tooling equipment in the final assembly area, which will produce the next-generation F-150 pickup and the Ford Transit commercial van.
It seems that the vehicles produced in the Kansas City area are highly requested on the market, contributing to a sales boost in January for Ford and GM as well.
The Escape hit 17,259 units, up 23.5% from January 2011, and combined with the Focus brought a 49% of the overall 7% sales gain in January. But, the F-150 is considered the top-selling vehicle in the States, reaching 42% of the company’s total sales.
“January started off with solid sales versus year-ago levels,” Ken Czubay, Ford vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service, said in a release.
“Ford saw the same solid month, with smaller vehicles in higher demand. Escape continued its record-setting run, and Focus set the pace for car sales in California, Texas and the Southeast.”
