2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S launched in the U.S

According to Khabarkhodro,The German based automaker Porsche has recently announced that the new generation of the 911, in both Carrera and Carrera S “forms”, has just been launched in the United States.

After the model has been around in Europe for quite some time, the new generation of the Porsche 911 has just hit the United States, and the car manufacturer says that the base 911 Carrera has a starting price of $82,100, while the 911 Carrera S costs $96,400. The 2012 Porsche 911 is coming with some performance enhancements, like the automatic start/stop, the engine and transmission thermal management, the electrical system recuperation and the electro-mechanical power steering, which are helping improve the fuel efficiency.

The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.4 liter boxer engine which is developing a total output of 350 horsepower, being able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, while the Carrera S is equipped with the larger 3.8 liter boxer unit, which is generating 400 horsepower. The Carrera S, with the PDK, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, and in 3.9 seconds with the Launch Control function, going all the way up to 188 mph, while the Carrera has a top speed of 179 mph.
