Next-gen Opel Corsa is coming in 2014

According to Khabarkhodro,The new generation of the Opel Corsa will hit the market in 2014 and the small model will be lighter and equipped with more efficient engines.

Even if there aren’t any official details on the new generation of the Opel Corsa, the guys at Auto Motor und Sport are saying that the future model will be based on the same platform as the new Chevrolet Aveo (Sonic) and this means that the hatchback will become lighter and more economic. The next generation of the Opel Corsa will also get a more aggressive design, with a new front side and a coupe like roof line, and the model will be equipped with more efficient engines, in both three- and four-cylinder forms.

Our source is also saying that the upcoming Opel Corsa will be powered by the new Ecotec engine family, with units placed between 1.0 and 1.5 liter displacements, while the GSI and OPC versions are most likely to get the supercharged 1.5 liter unit. GM has recently announced that the future models will be more economical and they will also emit less CO2 than the current versions, mainly thanks to downsizing, supercharging, direct-injecting and fitting them with the stop/start technology.
