According to Khabarkhodro,Ford India plans to export Figo model to 18 more countries this year, a top company official said Friday.

“Currently, we are exporting [Figo] to 32 countries. We are hoping to increase that to 50 markets,” Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham told reporters here after launching 45 new dealer outlets across 35 cities.

Countries in South America, North Africa and the Caribbean islands are the new markets Ford plans to export the Figo to.

The U.S. based automaker on Thursday opened 45 new sales and service outlets in 35 locations, including Rohtak, Sonepat, Rourkela, Agartala, Gulbarga, Tirupur, Jabalpur, Sagar, Thanjavur, and Solarpur.

Two years ago, Ford launched 28 new dealer facilities across 24 cities on the same day, announcing that it was preparing for a volume play.

Despite the overall slowdown in automobile sales in India, Ford has seen a strong growth in 2011 (calendar year) on the back of robust sales in diesel cars, Vice President, (Sales) of Ford India, N Raja, said.
