According to Khabarkhodro,A hybrid version of the popular VW Passat will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on the 6th of March, made by Controlled Power Technologies and Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium.

Two companies from the United Kingdom and the United States have joined forces in order to develop a hybrid version of the Volkswagen Passat, and the British from Controlled Power Technologies, along with the Americans at the Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium, will officially present the model on the 6th of March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

According to the two companies, the Volkswagen Passat Hybrid is gaining 25 horsepower while cutting down its CO2 emission, and the overall weight of the car has increased by 79 kg. The VW Passat Hybrid is powered by the 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine, along with an electric motor, to generate a total output of 142 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm, compared to the previous 122 HP and 200 Nm of torque. The CO2 emissions also dropped from 140 to 130 g/km.

Controlled Power Technologies and Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium are putting all of their money on a new plumb-carbon battery, which should be more efficient than the current lithium-ion ones. More details on the Volkswagen Passat Hybrid will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show.
