Nissan Recalls 30,000 Cars for Engine and Air Bag Problems

According to Khabarkhodro,Almost 30,000 vehicles are recalled by Nissan Motor in two separate campaigns over air bag faults and engine stalls.

The company recalls 23,531 2011-2012 Nissan Quest minivans to reprogram the software to address some engine stalls, and 5,777 Infiniti Q45 to fix side air bags that may not deploy in a crash. Nissan decided to recall the vehicles after a complaint from January 18th.

In December 2008 NHTSA opened an investigation concerning the Infiniti air bag issue and upgraded its investigation to an engineering analysis in July 2009. NHTSA said it was upgrading an investigation into nearly 390,000 Jeep Liberty SUVs for reports of inadvertent air bag deployments, after receiving 87 reports of inadvertent deployment of air bags that have resulted in 50 alleged injuries. The injuries included cuts, burns and bruises to the upper body. 42 incidents involved the driver front air bag, and the remaining 45 involved both the driver and passenger front air bags inadvertently deploying without a crash.

The company agreed to recall in April 1.2 million more F-150 pickup trucks after other 200 reports of sudden, unexpected air bag deployments. Nissan recalled a total of 1.5 million vehicles to address the issue.
