Recall roundup: 2011-2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

According to Khabarkhodro,The South Korean based automaker Hyundai has recently announced a recall for the 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid models because of a problem with a rear center seat belt.

After Subaru had to admit that the Forester models have a problem with the rear center seat belt, Hyundai is stepping forward and announcing that the same issue has been signaled in the 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 14,728 units of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrids, manufactured between the 2nd of December 2012 and the 7th of March 2012, will have to be taken back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the rear center seat belt fixed.

Hyundai says that out of the 14,728 units of the Sonata Hybrid models, 13,095 have already been driven off the lots but even so, the vehicles will have to be taken back because the problem with the rear center seat belt might lead to an injury in case of a crash. The Hyundai dealers in the United States have been notified about this recall on March the 8th and the vehicles in question have been immediately stopped from selling. The recall is expected to start soon and the company’s dealers will inspect and fix the seat belt problem free of charge
