March 2012 Sales for Maruti Suzuki

According to Khabarkhodro,India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, reported its highest monthly sales in March, with 125,952 units, up 3.3% from March 2011.

March 2012 sales represents the highest ever monthly sales in the Company’s history. The previous high in total sales was in March 2011 at 121,952 units.

Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, HMIL said, “The market continues to pose many challenges; things can improve if interest rates come down this quarter.”

Sales for the newly-launched DZiRE compact sedan were up 60% to 16,451, and Swift, Estilo and Ritz witnessed a growth of 23.64 % in sales with total sales of 27,913 units from 22,576 units in the same month a year ago. But the sales of company’s mini segment cars - M800, Alto, A-Star and Wagon R - dived by 10.16% to 52,826 units from 58,799 units in March 2011. The sales of the SX4 sedan and Kiazshi sedan also dropped by 58.15% and 53.04%.

The company’s total sales figure also includes the 13,228 units that were exported to international markets, which translates into a growth of 14.75% in total exports as compared to the year-ago period.
