Recall roundup: Toyota Prius V in the US and Mercedes A-Class and B-Class in China

The Japanese based automaker Toyota and the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz have recently announced two separate recalls, one of them for the Prius V in the United States and the other for the A-Class and B-Class in China.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 20,000 units of the 2012 Toyota Prius V Hybrid will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of a problem with the control mechanism. The NHTSA is saying that weakened actuators on the Toyota Prius V’s exhaust heat recovery system might lead to engine coolants leaking and the warning light may turn, making the vehicle run in safe mode. The actuators will be replaced free of charge and the recall is expected to begin soon.

Mercedes-Benz has also announced a recall for a completely different problem on its A-Class and B-Class vehicles in China. According to the German based car manufacturer, the A160 and B200 minivans will have to be taken back to the dealers because of a problem with the CVT transmissions. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine says that 291 units will be affected and the recall will begin on the 8th of May.
