Ford Lays Off 250 Employees From its Factory in Craiova, Romania

According to Khabarkhodro,Ford announced that it plans to lay off 250 workers at its plant in Craiova, Romania.

Although car sales in America are back on track and plants are reopening, Europe still struggles with its auto industry. Although Ford announced that in June 2012 it plans to hire 500 workers, it recently declared that it will lay off 250 employees by the end of April. Workers who are reaching retirement age have to willingly sign a list, and about 120 to 140 have done so already. Voluntary redundancy program has been implemented by Ford and other countries where the company has factories. Romania is the only country where Ford practice staff voluntary redundancy program.
