MG Icon named the Best Concept in Beijing

The stunning designed MG Icon has been recently awarded the Best Concept, during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.

After starting its life as a simple rumor and then leaked all over the web only to be revealed at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, the MG Icon concept is once again placed into the spotlights, this time with the vehicle being named the Best Concept at the Chinese international automotive event. According to its creators, the MG Icon concept has been inspired by the classic models MGA and MGB, and the vehicle has been fitted with suicide doors and a lot of interesting features. Rumors say that the MG Icon concept will be put into production and if this happens, the model will compete with the Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka, Peugeot 2008 or the Ford EcoSport.

The MG Icon concept has been codenamed the AS21 and the five-door SUV is similar in size to the Nissan Juke. Even if the model has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, details on it remain unknown for the moment, but if the vehicle makes it into production, its engine range is expected to come from SAIC.
