Skoda to develop Golf like Rapid hatch

According to khabarkhodro Skoda is planning to develop a hatchback version of the Rapid model which will be inspired by the Volkswagen Golf.

After the Skoda Rapid was officially revealed in Europe last month (June), the model is entering our news one more time with a rumor which is saying that the vehicle will get a hatchback version inspired by the popular Volkswagen Golf. According to autocar.co.uk, Jurgen Stackmann, the Czech based automaker’s sales and marketing boss, has recently said that the model will be shorter than the sedan and it will feature a Golf-like rear fascia. Our source is also saying that the model will be launched next year.

As a quick reminder, the Skoda Rapid sedan is 4.48 meters long and 1,7 meters wide, and the model will be slotted between the Fabia and the Octavia models once it will hit the market in Europe at the end of this year. The Skoda Rapid will be offered on the Old Continent with a choice of seven engines at first, five petrol and two diesels, including the 1.2 liter TSI engine from VW in two outputs, 85 HP and 105 HP, the 1.4 liter TSI with 122 HP, the 1.6 liter TSI with 105 HP and the 2.0 liter TDI with 140 HP. The Skoda Rapid will be launched in Europe in late 2012, after it will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September.
