After the North American based automaker Cadillac has revealed the all-new ATS model, which has been listed as a rival for models like the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the Audi A4, the company is currently working on the new generation of the CTS which will take on the larger BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6. According to the guys at autocar.co.uk, the future generation of the Cadillac CTS will hit the market in 2014 and it will be underpinned by an enlarged version of the Alpha platform, used on the CTS.

The future generation of the Cadillac CTS is expected to get the company’s new 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which is producing 272 BHP, and the larger 3.6 liter V6 petrol unit with 350 HP which, along with the lighter architecture used in the ATS, should offer an improved fuel economy. By the time of its launch, Cadillac should also offer a diesel version of the CTS too. More details on the future generation of the CTS will probably be announced sometimes next year.
