2014 Volkswagen Golf R to get 276 BHP

 According to khabarkhodro ،The future generation of the Volkswagen Golf R is expected to pack an impressive 276 BHP from its new 2.0 liter turbo engine.

 The German based automaker Volkswagen will present the new generation of the Golf, the MK7, on the 4th of September, in Berlin, and right after that the hatchback will make its public debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, but while the new Golf will become available to its future customers by the end of the year, the future R version is expected to be launched sometimes in 2013.

According to the guys at autocar.co.uk, the future generation of the Volkswagen Golf R will drop the current EA113 2.0 liter turbo engine for the new EA888 unit, which will still come as a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo. Our source is also saying that this engine will make its way under the hood of the upcoming Audi A3 too, and in the Golf R, the unit will produce around 276 BHP, but keep in mind that there is nothing official on this just yet.

Just like the regular version of the Volkswagen Golf, the hot hatch Golf R will ride on the MQB modular platform, the same one used on the new generation of the Audi A3, which will also underpin more models made by VW or its sub-brands.
