2013 Seat Leon enters production in Spain

According to khabar khodro، Seat has recently announced that the new generation of the Leon has entered production in Spain, at the Martorell facility, near Barcelona.

After it has leaked a few months ago and then it was officially presented to the public for the first time during the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the new generation of the Seat Leon is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the Spanish based automaker announcing its production start. According to Seat, the new Leon generation has entered production these days near Barcelona, at the company’s Martorell plant. The first units of the model will be delivered in March, next year.

The new generation of the Seat Leon is riding on the MQB modular platform and the model is 90 kg lighter than the outgoing version, which is translated into an improved fuel efficiency. A variety of five engines with outputs ranging between 89 HP and 181 HP (135 kW) for the 2.0 liter TDI diesel will be available for the new Seat Leon and the most powerful petrol unit will be the 1.8 liter TSI with its 178 HP (132 kW). The transmissions available for the model will be the five-speed manual, the six-speed manual, the six-speed DSG and the seven-speed DSG. The new Leon is promising to burn an average of 3.8 liters of fuel every 100 km (61.8 mpg US / 74.3 mpg UK) and emit just 99 g/km of CO2.
