Volkswagen Passat Celebrates its 40th Birthday

According khabar khodro , The Volkswagen Passat is turning 40 with the first delivery of the original B1 Passat happening on July 25, way back in 1973.

Seven generations of the Passat have been sold around the world and currently two variants are produced by the German automaker: one for the U.S. and China (as the New Midsize Sedan) and one for the rest of the world. The Passat has also spawned the CC variant, which is a stylish four-door coupe model that originally debuted at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

Recently, the 2013 Passat TDI set a new Guinness World Record for fuel economy under the non-hybrid car category. Last month, Passat sales hit a record high for Volkswagen in North America, with 10,874 units sold. For the first half of the year, 56,119 Passats have been sold in the U.S.
