Auto industry needs at least a 15 years program

According to Khabar Khodro, secretary of the board of the suppliers with notifying more than 90 percent decline of exporting vehicles and supplies in first four months of this year said, “in recent months, loss of production, lack of appropriate space for manufacturing and opposing with manufacturing capacities in the country had influenced foreign customers interest and it causes them not to welcome our local products.”

Sasan Ghorbani in an interview with Khabar Khodro’s reporter said, “until the officials, decision makers of industry, economics and even Legislator are oppose to their local productions, it is not possible to attract foreign customers to our products.”

He explained, “No where you can find an official who speaks in national media, about being opposite with his country’s local production.”

With mention to some announcements on changing the authority of auto industry in order to solve the problems, he said, “Absolutely, with changing the authority of auto industry, Iran’s auto industry problems are not going to be solved.”

“Unfortunately, in recent 2 years all of the moves in country including legislation and comments were opposed to industry and manufacturing,” he added.

Ghorbani said, “Unsuitable situation of exchange rate, not specified exchange for manufacturing segment, increasing bank interests, inside embargos and deployment of some institutions like Police, EPA, Customs Organization and Standard Institution, last year had pushed the available tension on auto industry. So, it seems with these problems changing one or two heads will not solve Iranian auto industry problems.”

He announced that in this situation first priority should be codifying long term program and strategies. Ghorbani emphasized, “Officials and Minister for Commerce, Industries & Mines, first priority is codifying at least a 4 years program which will not be influenced even with changing the Minister. However, we believe auto industry needs at least a 15 years program.”

Secretary of the board of the suppliers added, “Second priority in auto industry is the stability of industrial authorities in order to accomplish the codified program. If authorities are not sure whether they will work in future or not, they will not be able to make long term decisions.”

And finally he said, “If the Central Bank makes its own decisions against auto industry, the Tax System being so strict and Social Security doesn’t pay attention to industry tensions, absolutely in this situation industrial units will not tolerate even one day delay. In auto industry, if some suppliers have problems the others will be affected too.”
