Diesel engine reached vehicle tests

According to Khabar Khodro, first part of designing and developing diesel engine is finished and first tests of it is done on Samand, Souren and Dena.

CEO of Engine Design and Research Company of Iran Khodro said, “National diesel engine project includes two parallel parts- engine and powerplant and vehicle. Its vehicle part will be completed next year and would go to mass production.”

Mohammad Zali announced the Samand and Souren are first vehicles considered to have this engine and added, “In order that, producing prototypes of Dena with this engine is on our agenda.”

He remarked, “One of this three vehicles would go to commercialization and launching level and two other would continue testing.”

COE of IPCO told, “In this way, Iran Khodro’s diesel car will be launched in market before end of next year.”

He said fuel efficiency of this engine is 5.5L/100 km and added, “Diesel engine are more efficient than petrol ones so they have less CO2 emissions.”

About people’s thought about diesel engines he told, “Diesel cars of Iran Khodro are completely different from heavy duty vehicles and have less unusual sound.”

It is to say that, diesel engine, designing of which has started from 89 in Iran Khodro is important environmentally and economically because of its joint parts with EF7 engines and Euro 5 emission adaptability.
