Coordinating with police in order to number vehicles of year 93

According to Khabar Khodro, secretary of Iran Automakers’ Association mentioned to the time of delivering new models of vehicles within next 2 months and said, “With automakers’ request NAJA traffic police should number vehicles of year 93.”

Ahmad Nemat Bakhsh in an interview with Khabar Khodro’s reporter told, “Every year within 2 or 3 months before end of year and by coming close to new year, inside and foreign automakers launch new models of vehicles to the market. So it is necessary for police to have coordination with automakers.”

He remarked, “Despite last year was named the ‘year of production support’, police did not had coordination with automakers and with excuse of not improving vehicles to be compatible to Euro 4 standards have impede numbering vehicles while government delayed production of Euro 4 vehicles to next year because of not availability of new fuels.”

He mentioned to the Memorandum of Understanding signed by EPA and said, “According to this Memorandum of Understanding, from spring of 93 all passenger vehicles would be launched according to Euro 4 standards.”

“So, with this agreement between us and EPA, police would have no excuses for not numbering cars of 93 model year.”

Nemat Bakhsh added, “So, NAJA traffic police should start numbering cars of 93 model year from first of Bahman.”

He admitted, “However, now many products such as Megan, Tiana, Tiba, Peugeot 206, L90, all vehicles of Kerman Motor and Modiran Khodro, Mazda 2, Mazda 3 and significant percentage of Samand and Peugeot Pars are manufactured according to Euro 4 standards.”

We said, “We hope that Oil Ministry would also launch Euro 4 fuel in whole country in order to owners of Euro 4 vehicles not to incur losses.”
