Mercedes-Benz A-Class Cabrio to debut in 2014

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce its new A-Class Cabrio in 2014 and it will be made on the new MFA platform, the same one used by the 2012 B-Class, battling on the same level with the convertible version of the BMW 1-Series.

The Mercedes A-Class Cabrio is expected to have a soft-top to keep it light but there’s no official word on it yet. Rumors are that the new A-Class drop-top will be powered by a 1.6 liter petrol engine which is expected to come in two versions, the 121 and 154 horsepower, along with a new 1.8 liter diesel unit, offered in two variants, which will be developing 107 and 134 horsepower.

Even if the automotive media has announced that the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Cabrio will make its way into the market next year, it seems that the German automaker’s plans are changing everything and BMW 1-Series Convertible’s official rival will be presented in 2014.

There’s no word on the price or other figures yet and besides the drop-top version of the A-Class, Mercedes-Benz is also preparing a new “family” of compact cars, like the B-Class, A-Class hatch, a baby CLS, a rival to the BMW X1 and one of the BMW X6, which are most likely to go on sale next year.
